    Jeremy McLeod

    Co-Founder and Design Director, Breathe Architecture and Nightingale Housing

    Jeremy is the founding Director of Breathe, a studio of recognised by their peers as one of Australia’s leading architectural practices. Breathe have been recognised with over 20 Australian Institute of Architect awards, including the 2018 Melbourne Prize. Jeremy is the Recipient of the 2018 Victorian Chapter, the President’s Prize and received the 2016 Leadership in Sustainability Prize at the Australian Institute of Architects. He regularly speaks at industry conferences, educational events, TEDx, and runs the Nightingale Night School masters course at Melbourne University. Jeremy has over 25 years experience across multiple sectors including delivering large scale multi-residential and commercial projects on time, on budget and with a high level of innovation. His work with The University of Melbourne, City of Melbourne, Creative Victoria, City of Moreland and the City of Port Philip has equipped him with the ability to assimilate quality criteria, policies, PCG and approval processes into project delivery and he has extensive experience managing large consultant teams and negotiating complex stakeholder relationships. As a founding signatory of Australian Architects Declare Jeremy led the push for practices to become certified carbon neutral, which saw over 200 firms from the architecture industry and beyond publicly commit to going carbon neutral in 2020. Jeremy continues to make significant contributions to the future of sustainable, carbon neutral and affordable housing in Australia, tirelessly pushing for industry and government to do better for a country in a housing and climate crisis. Jeremy is relentless in his advocacy for a net zero emissions future. Jeremy believes that architects, through collaboration, can drive real positive change.

    Since joining Breathe in 2019, Ali has been a driving force behind the front end design team, leading the way with a focus on urban design, masterplanning and concept design to deliver highly sustainable architecture. Her passion for these areas has allowed her to take on a diverse range of projects, including multiresidential developments, commercial projects, hospitality venues, and strategic planning initiatives. Ali’s approach to design is rooted in big-picture thinking, and she thrives in collaborative environments. She is a highly sought after member of the Breathe team due to her expertise, efficiency and proficiency. Ali is a clear communicator with a strong sense of design excellence. Ali’s specialisation lies in Concept design, where she excels at developing the conceptual framework for project, working with clients to deliver on their project aspirations, She has a strong understanding of Development Feasibility and Urban Design, working across a range of scales and typologies to prepare strategic masterplans, feasibility studies and design guidelines. In addition to her design acumen, Ali’s grounded belief that humanity and the planet matter drives the design outcomes of all her work. Her commitment to creating sustainable and liveable cities is a driving force behind her work, aspiring to deliver on a more and resilient urban environment for thriving communities. Ali is also deeply engaged in industry events as a regular speaker. Her insights and expertise inspire and motivate fellow professionals, making her a respected figure in the architectural community. Additionally, Ali generously shares her knowledge and experiences as a mentor to young architects and designers.
