The Brisbane Metro Depot, Australia’s largest electric bus depot.
Located on a 10-hectare site at Rochedale, the depot is poised to become a pivotal hub for Brisbane’s new bus rapid transit transportation system.
The depot, which has undergone over 400,000 hours of construction, is designed to support Brisbane’s new fleet of fully electric metros. The facility boasts 65 charging stations, including five fast chargers.
More than 2,300 solar panels have been installed, generating clean energy equivalent to the annual power consumption of 280 homes. This initiative alone is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an amount comparable to removing over 500 cars from Brisbane’s roads each year.
Event Overview
Join us for a guided tour of the Brisbane Metro Depot in Rochedale, hosted by the Brisbane City Council. This exclusive visit will give you an inside look at the Metro’s fast-charge facilities and depot operations.
Meeting Point & Time: Eight Mile Plains Busway Station (arrival time: 9:15am).
Getting There: Important, no parking is available on site at Rochdale. We recommend catching the Metro M1 service (approx. 25 minutes travel time from the CBD) to Eight Mile Plains Busway meeting point.
Tour Departure: The group will depart promptly at 9:30am from Eight Mile Plains Busway Station with a Brisbane City Council representative. Please ensure you arrive before 9:30am. Unfortunately, late arrivals will not be able to join the tour once the group has departed.
Tour Details: We will take a short Metro ride from Eight Mile Plains to the Rochedale Depot, where the tour will begin. The visit will include an overview of the fast-charge area and other key operational features of the depot and take approximately 60-90mins.
Return Travel: Following the tour, participants can return to the city via the M1 service departing from the Depot.
