    Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2020 is an annual keynote and panel discussion held by ULI Alberta. It discusses the well-regarded joint publication report by ULI  and PwC, Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2020®. The report offers in-depth reviews of key trends and outlook for the North American markets.


    This year ULI Alberta is pleased to welcome back, Andrew Warren, Director of Real Estate Research at PwC who will provide his insights and global outlook
    from the report. We are pleased to have Wendy Waters, Vice President, Research Services & Strategy, GWL Realty Advisors provide the Canadian and Alberta
    context for the emergence of recent trends. Following on from Andrew and  Wendy will be an exceptional panel discussion featuring our esteemed line
    up of local industry experts.

    With over 20 years of commercial real estate experience, Cory Wosnack is a Principal and Managing Director at Avison Young. As one of the province's most active real estate advisors, Cory has consistently completed many of the industry’s most influential transactions. Cory has been a member of Avison Young’s Circle of Excellence ten times ‐ a distinction awarded to the firm’s top performers worldwide. As a member of Avison Young’s Executive Committee, Cory is honoured to aid in the development and implementation of the firm’s global strategic plan. Cory has a never-ending passion to be involved in community and not-for-profit organizations. Recent board appointments include the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Mental Health Foundation, NorQuest College and YPO.

    Chris has been directly involved in the acquisition, planning, design and development of various projects from small scale mixed use developments to the adaptive reuse of existing buildings. He maintains a strong passion for cities, architecture and urban design with an emphasis on placemaking. Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Planning from the University of Waterloo and a Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning Technology from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and Alberta Professional Planners Institute. He is actively involved in various committees related to planning and real estate development in Edmonton and Alberta.

    Wendy Waters

    Real Estate Research & Analysis, GWL Realty Advisors Inc

    ULI British Columbia, Chair of Mission Advancement Wendy Waters is the Vice President Research Services & Strategy at GWL Realty Advisors (GWLRA), an institutional real estate manager with over $12 Billion in assets under management in Canada and another $4Billion in the US under the brand EverWest. Based in Vancouver, she leads the company's research function; responsibilities include providing analysis of economic, demographic and market trends in order to support long-term asset acquisition, development and management strategies in all asset classes. Wendy has been with GWLRA Research for 13 years, and was previously with Avison Young in Vancouver. She has a Ph.D. in economic history from the University of Arizona. Wendy frequently presents at ULI and other industry events as well as sits on conference panels. She was a keynote speaker at the ULI Alberta Emerging Trends event in 2017, 2018 & 2019 and moderated the ULI Emerging Trends event in Vancouver in 2019.     Andrew Warren, Andy, currently serves as the PwC’s Director of Real Estate Research. As the Director of Real Estate Research, and is responsible for monitoring all aspects of commercial and residential real estate, including space market fundamentals, capital market trends, regulatory changes and operational developments. For the past seven years, Andy has led PwC’s participation in the development and production of the Emerging Trends in Real Estate publication. Andy is a frequent speaker on issues affecting the real estate market and has also authored numerous articles for internal clients and national real estate publications. Andy also forecasts market performance for PwC’s “Real Estate Investor Survey”. Andy has over 30 years of experience in all aspect of commercial and residential real estate research. Andy has performed and managed real estate fundamental analysis and forecasting, portfolio construction, and buy/sell decisions for both debt and equity clients. Prior to assuming his current role, Andy served as the Managing Director of Real Estate Research for Principal Global Investors, a top 10 institutional real estate manager in the U.S. At Principal, Andy held a progressive level of analyst and management positions over his 25 year career and served as a voting and advisory member on a multiple real estate debt and equity investment funds. Andy has earned the CFA designation and is a Counselor of Real Estate. He is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute Research Forum as well as a participating member of ICSC, NCREIF, NAIOP, the Appraisal Institute and the CCIM institute.
