Harriet Tregoning
Senior Advisor on Land Use, New Urban Mobility Alliance
Harriet Tregoning is Director of NUMO, the New Urban Mobility alliance, a collaborative effort aimed at harnessing tech-based disruptions in urban transportation to make cities more sustainable, livable and just.
Harriet is a former ULI Trustee; advises cities, states, foundations, corporations and NGOs; and previously served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Community Planning and Development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama Administration. At HUD, she initiated $1-billion National Disaster Resilience Competition and supported communities in building strong foundations for economic and disaster resilience. As Director of the D.C. Office of Planning, Harriet helped to make the nation’s capital walkable, bikeable, equitable and globally competitive. Harriet also was Secretary of Planning in Maryland and a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is a leadership advisor to the Rails to Trails Conservancy and is on the boards of ioby, a community leadership development program and crowdfunding platform for neighborhood-scale projects, and the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy.
