ULI HK and Bank of America are pleased to invite you to meet with the CEO of LEG Immobilien, one of the largest European residential-for-rent companies, for a discussion on best practice in the context of the German residential rental market and learning that can be applied to housing in Hong Kong.

LEG specialises in the affordable residential for-rent sector in Germany, owning almost 170,000 rental apartments which generate >€800m pa rent and house approximately 500,000 people. Germany is a global leader in rental housing, with more than half its population in rental accommodation and much of this considered to be state-backed. Germany has also faced recent challenges with state-level moves to control rents as well as pressure from increased immigration: the arrival of one million Ukrainian refugees in 2022 widened the cumulative housing deficit to 720,000 units, and it is expected that the shortfall could date up to a decade to be addressed.

In this intimate and interactive morning session, Lars will discuss the market and company structure in Germany and lessons from the context in which LEG provides mass for-rent housing. He is keen to hear views on the Greater China residential for rent market and to exchange thoughts on how to advance housing provision.

Keynote speaker: Lars von Lackum, CEO LEG Immobilien
Moderator: Eli Konvitz, Vice Chair, ULI Hong Kong
