Why does governing, designing, and investing in urban life at night matters — and what does it mean for cities, communities, and real estate?

This edition of Places + Spaces dives into the emerging field of nocturnal urbanism, exploring how cities around the world are rethinking safety, mobility, culture, and economic activity after dark.

With perspectives from international nighttime governance leaders and Polish urban practitioners, we will explore how a well-designed nighttime economy can strengthen real estate value, support vibrant public spaces, enhance safety, and create more inclusive, resilient cities.

We will be joined by:

  • Dr. Andreina Seijas, an international expert in night-time governance and planning and Founder & Principal of Night Tank who will give an opening keynote Why the Night Matters: Urban Design and Policy for the City After Dark and introduce night-time urbanism as a policy and design framework that addresses how people use, move through, and experience the built environment after dark

  • Julieta Cuneo, Policy & Research Lead, 24 Hour London, Greater London Authority who in her presentation Nightlife Within Night Time: A holistic approach to 24-Hour Cities will on example of London talk about how cities can move from managing nightlife 'as a problem' towards proactively planning for vibrant, balanced and sustainable night-time environments

  • Jacek Jordan, Night Mayor of Krakow with a presentation on Way to Sustainable Night Time Economy in Krakow  will share how Krakow is building a structured, European-scale model for managing the night.

  • Piotr Zmyslony, an Associate Professor at the Poznan University of Economics and Business who lectures and conducts research in urban tourism, the night-time economy will share his insights with presentation Learning to Govern After Dark: Lessons from Polish Cities.

Weronika Kuna, Asset Management & Leasing Manager at Globalworth/Hala Koszyki and Michael Motz, Founder of Full House Group will then join the presenters for the panel discussion moderated by Piotr Zmyślony.
