Harvesting the Value of Water explores theharvesting-the-value-of-water real estate sector’s increased participation in stormwater management through the incorporation of green infrastructure and other water management mechanisms. Highlighting a series of case studies, the report provides an overview of how stormwater management can introduce operational efficiencies, improve building user experience, enhance aesthetics, and otherwise differentiate a real estate project.

The Center for Sustainability and Economic Performance and its Urban Resilience Program led the research on this project, with support from the Building Healthy Places Initiative. This report seeks to show how cities are dramatically revising their stormwater management regulations in response to aging infrastructure, combined sewer overflows, and flood frequency, among other challenges, and explore how these evolving policies create implications and opportunities for private-sector real estate developers.
