We will remember 2020 as the 'year of all crises': health, economic, social, environmental and political. The world around us has never seemed so uncertain. The ULI Belgium Annual Conference 2020 presents the opportunity to sit down, think and share views on what the future may bring.

Part I: What’s Next in Real Estate?

Discover the results of the 2021 Emerging Trends in Real Estate® Europe report, published by ULI and PwC.

How do market players see real estate evolving in 2021 and beyond?  what are the ongoing challenges? What opportunities will arise in Belgium and Europe?

We will also look further ahead at how the industry will be shaped by new irreversible shifts such as the future of the workplace, retail and an increased focus on social outcomes and impact investing.
    • Edouard Cambier, President, Belgian Workplace Association
    • Sheelam Chadha, Director Transactions Belux, Patrizia
    • Alain van Houtte, Real Estate Advisory & Corporate Finance Leader at PwC Belgium
    • Andrew Vaughan, CEO, Redevco
    • Moderator: Alexandre Lamot, Director, A Lamot & Co

Part II: What’s Next for Cities?

Cities rebooted: repair and prepare, for and with, the next generation

This is not the premature end of the urban century, but rather the start of a new cycle in the redistribution of places to work and live. It has big implications for how government and businesses think about urban economies, land-use housing, transport, technologies and wellbeing. Cities will have two populations: resident and virtual. What does this mean for real estate? Which cities are leading the way on this new path? How well placed is Belgium to succeed?  After a keynote speech from Carlo Ratti, Professor of the Practice Department of Urban Studies and Planning, MIT, leaders in both the public and private sectors will debate the future of cities.
    • Carlo Ratti, Professor, MIT
    • Raphael Legendre, Country Manager Besix RED Belgium
    • Pascal Smet, Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region
    • Hala El Akl, Director, PLP Architecture
    • Moderator: Benjamin Cadranel, CEO, Citydev
Conclusions by Xavier Denis, ULI Belgium Chair
