Managing Principal of Design, Planning + Economics, AECOM
Ashley O’Connor, AICP, is a managing principal with AECOM Planning, Design and Development. She is a real estate and management specialist with more than 18 years of experience in real estate planning, programming, transfer, and development. She has an extensive understanding of urban redevelopment, large-scale project management, and portfolio planning analysis, and brings a strong design background and a solid understanding of the technical, scientific, and regulatory aspects of planning, management and development throughout all phases of project execution.
In her role at AECOM, O’Connor brings a market orientation and strategic thinking to Design, Planning + Economics. Her award-winning work demonstrates her ability to combine a refined aesthetic perspective with a market understanding and a systematic approach resulting in a thoughtful and structure approach and successful project implementation.
Prior to joining AECOM, O’Connor managed large-scale design projects throughout the world for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP, focusing on mixed use projects, institutional clients, and urban design. Prior to that, she led a matrixed team addressing a broad range of real estate issues at Booz Allen Hamilton. She has worked extensively with federal agencies, cities and states, as well as private developers, foreign governments and sovereign wealth funds. Her functional background includes urban design and planning, mixed-use architectural development, and property transfer; and she has experience in environmental/ brownfields planning, transportation planning, and public private partnerships.
O’Connor has a Masters degree in Urban & Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia, and holds a B.A. in History from Duke University.
