About the Panelists
Carol E. Murray, principal, The Lifework Institute
Carol has more than 20 years of experience coaching executives through personal and professional transitions and facilitating them through periods of profound corporate change. She is particularly adept at assisting senior executives in building trust within complex organizational environments, thereby increasing productivity and adaptability while reducing turnover or loss of key contributors.
A graduate of Duke University (BA Economics), Carol began her career as chief in-house economist for a $3 billion private bank in Washington, DC. She subsequently joined a Washington based executive career services and outplacement firm, moving from a staff position to Partner, ultimately managing the firm’s most profitable regional office in San Francisco.
In the mid-90’s Carol founded The Lifework Institute and directed her focus to assisting top executives in developing greater self-awareness, thereby enhancing their ability to lead themselves and others more effectively. She has directed, coached or provided oversight for over 2,000 professional development assignments for executives currently functioning in corporate leadership positions throughout the U.S., Europe and the Pacific Rim.
Currently, Carol devotes the lion’s share of her professional time to executive coaching, executive team effectiveness, CEO/Board alignment, and the design and delivery of leadership development programs.
Donald M. Wise, president & chief executive officer, Metzler Real Estate
Mr. Wise brings nearly 40 years of substantial real estate experience and leadership to the firm. Prior to joining Metzler in 2003, he directed asset management for Unico Properties and, earlier, headed Unico’s property management and leasing group. Mr. Wise also led various real estate assignments in principal markets across the US on behalf of JLL. He began his career with The Austin Company, where he helped design and build a number of industrial, laboratory and office facilities.
Mr. Wise is active in the Urban Land Institute and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate. He also serves several non-profit and civic organizations including YouthCare, Leadership Tomorrow, and Downtown Seattle Association.
Mr. Wise holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University and a MS in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He also completed the Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
